Middlesbrough kids are good enough - Southgate

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate says his kids are good enough should he fail to add to his squad before the summer transfer window shuts.

Southgate stressed: "I am pleased with the positions we have strengthened. They were positions we needed to strengthen.

"We are always looking to strengthen the squad further but valuations of players are currently very high and it's difficult to operate in this market.

"Hopefully the fees that we have paid for players will prove good value for money.

"I want to bring players in for the long term and not rush in and regret it.

"I am thinking over the next four years and not stop-gap over one or two.

"Situations may force my hand but if I can't bring in the right players I would rather give the youngsters their chance."
