Middlesbrough fullback Rhys Williams was delighted with his debut for Australia in their 2-1 World Cup qualifier victory over Japan. "All along I wanted to play for Australia because I'm Australian," Williams, who has captained Wales U21, told the West Australian.
"The only thing that I thought about was all the travelling but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to play for your country and I'm glad I made the decision.
"Pim (Verbeek) congratulated me on my debut and the rest is just down to me and how I play," Williams said. "Hopefully I can play well for my club and get in the squad."
