Middlesbrough defender Taylor makes switch to Cardiff

Middlesbrough have lost their defender Andrew Taylor to Championship rivals Cardiff. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Watford under new Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay and is delighted to link up with the former Hornets manager again.

"I want to be playing back in the Premier League and I think this club is a club waiting to be in the Premier League," said Taylor, who rejected a new deal with the Teessiders.

"It's got the right facilities and the right fan base and hopefully we can to do it this season. I just felt it was time for a change. I had been at Middlesbrough since I was nine years old.

"I really enjoyed my time at Watford. As soon as I heard he (Mackay) was interested it was something that immediately appealed."
