Middlesbrough coach Colin Cooper returned to the Riverside to coach the junior side after a short spell as assistant manager to Peter Jackson with struggling Bradford. Following Jackson's resignation in August, the 44-year-old took over as caretaker for two games, but the permanent job was given to Phil Parkinson.
Cooper told the Evening Gazette, saying: "When I wasn't offered the job I was hugely disappointed. Of course I was.
"I thought we had done well enough to justify it. Then I had the conversation with the chairman but it wasn't the conversation I wanted.
"I'm not chasing jobs. This is a business where you have to work hard to put yourself in a position where they may be an opportunity to move on."
