Middlesbrough chief Keith Lamb insists there's no reason why they can't crack the top four in the future under manager Gareth Southgate.
"Why can't we break the mould? Why can't we break into that top six or top four? If you say you can't, you won't but I see no reason at all why it is not possible.
"And I know for a fact that Gareth, the staff and the players all have the same view."
Lamb believes the club must continue to build and acknowledges that will include new additions to the team.
"We're working hard to strengthen the squad. It's no secret to know that Gareth's template of a player is slightly different to the one we've had in the past.
"He wants players who are younger, perhaps more mobile, who have their best years in front of them.
"I want to see players who are fiercely ambitious, not only for themselves but as a consequence of that - for Middlesbrough."
