Middlesbrough are chasing Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.

The Sun says Boro were last night in discussions over a deal for Cairney.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka switched his attention to the ex-Scotland Under-21 star after missing out on Robert Snodgrass.

He is attempting to seal a £7million deal for the former Blackburn player, 26, before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

Cairney is keen to prove himself at Premier League level after making his appearing in the top flight with Hull six years ago.
