Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson insists they won't sell Adam Johnson or David Wheater in January.
The pair have been linked with Tottenham, Fulham and Liverpool, but Gibson told the Evening Gazette: "We don't want to sell out our homegrown players and some of these players are very dear to us.
"We had a lot of offers for players. What makes the headlines is the offers that we've taken, but there were a lot of offers that we haven't taken."
When quizzed whether Boro had knocked back bids for Wheater, Gibson replied: "Yes, sure. But we just don't want to consider selling David."
