Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has said that Tuncay Sanli's form will revolve around his confidence, which is currently on a high following his goal in the 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

The Turkey international has started to motor following his summer move to Teesside, and he is being backed by his manager to continue his goalscoring exploits after netting twice in his last two games.

"Confidence has such a big part in top sport," said Southgate on the club's official website.

"He's seen he can score in this division now and he's seen he can have that rapport with the fans that he had at Fenerbahce which he loved and the fans here will love that.

"We all want heroes and when players play with that passion, that's the sort of thing that will lift the fans."
