Middlesbrough boss talks up teams potential

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate insists if his outfit performs to their full potential they can achieve anything. "We are where we are over 11 games so I don't think it's down to luck," he said.

"I think there's more to come from us, I think we can improve as individuals and as a team and let's see how far that can take us.

"I think that if you get a group of people who are completely committed to doing something and have the belief and ambition to strive forward then that can take you a long way.

"I don't want to set targets now," added Southgate. "Our own immediate target is to go to Villa and win.

"We should be satisfied in a sense with the position we're in at the moment but we want more and if we finish the season there or thereabouts we know it's been a good season.

"There's still 27 games to go so why not? Let's see what we can do.

"It's wide open towards the upper end of the table. Hull are six points ahead of us but if we win at Villa we go three points behind them.

"It's very tight at the top end and if we can get a good result it will be a great step forward for us. Everything is to play for and I've said for a number of weeks this will be a tight division this year and that means everything is achievable with the right mindset."
