Gareth Southgate has told Wigan Athletic striker Marlon King to use Middlesbrough to put himself in the shop window.

"He's on loan, but he's got the opportunity that if he does well for us he can be here next year and either way he's in the shop window as well," Southgate said.

"He's desperate to prove a point. While he's here he wants to do as well as he can for us and show people that he can play at this level."
