Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate admits he'll be active in the January market.

He said: "We have more targets than funds but we know the areas we would like to strengthen and we will have to be smart about how we do it.

"In the summer, we spent a net £500,000 and took £7 million off the wage bill. I don't see us making big in-roads into either of those figures but we would like to strengthen."
