Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate expects Stewart Downing to show his best form with the winter market now over.

"We want some goals from him now," Southgate said.

"His general contribution over the last couple of weeks has been good.

"Now he knows the next task is to start putting the ball in the back of the net. He's shown from the Sunderland game on that he's put the speculation to bed and got on with it.

"He's coped with it fine. There's no questioning his attitude."
