Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is happy to have resisted interest from the likes of Tottenham and Real Madrid in winger Adam Johnson.
"We know he's an outstanding individual talent and we know it's the early stages for him," he told Boro's website.
"He's still developing physically and we've talked to him about the need to have quality in his end product.
"What he's doing better now is improving his team contribution.
"There's a defensive side to the game that he has to be done and he's becoming more aware of that, while retaining the ability to go past people."
