Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is happy young defender Seb Hines has penned a new deal.

Hines joined Oldham yesterday on-loan and Southgate told Boro's website: "There are one or two young players whose long-term futures we wanted to get secured.

"We're pleased he's signed a contract and we feel the next stage of his development is to play in the football league in a team that's doing reasonably well."
