After their 1-1 draw at Everton, Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate was delighted with the performance of strike-pair Tuncay Sanli and Afonso Alves.
He told the Evening Gazette: "Early on Afonso went on several brilliant runs when Tuncay played him in.
"I thought he might have got in shots from a couple more than he did, but I was pleased with the work rate. Alves stretched their defenders and gave Tuncay the space in which to play.
"We were always a threat on the counter attack and it's something which has served us very well away from home lately.
"We probably missed Jeremie Aliadiere. His pace gives us something extra. But even when we made changes and brought on Adam Johnson and Marvin Emnes, we still had an outlet up front and were always a threat."
