Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is keeping his transfer targets close to his chest.

He told the club's official website: "Rather than deny or confirm any individual, the easiest thing to say is we are watching lots of different players.

"But the best way of doing business is to have the player next to you.

"There are certain positions we think need strengthening, but we have not ourselves come down to one or two players to go for.

"There are still maybe three or four targets for each position, and we want to keep watching players over the coming weeks to finalise those targets."
