Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate says Reading's Steve Coppell would be an ideal addition to Fabio Capello's England team.
"I'm probably a little biased having worked with him at Palace. That was some team he built.
"Whatever our reservations, we now have to get behind Capello and give him our support. In four years I'm sure the FA will have more options.
"There will be Harry Redknapp and Sam Allardyce still there and a group of younger managers who might be up for it with a bit more experience: Stuart Pearce, Paul Ince and, if he wants to do it, Tony Adams."
The Boro coach ruled himself out of the future running, though.
"I just wouldn't want to be manager of England. Things are getting more and more difficult for English managers. My only ambition is to make Middlesbrough successful."
