Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was delighted with the goalscoring debut of Sammy Ameobi in victory over Cardiff City.

Ameobi hit a stunner in his first game since arriving on-loan from Newcastle United.

Mowbray said: "He's been doing that all week in training.

"He dances past people who hang a leg in, smashing it in the net. We're delighted. Some have questioned why we've brought in a 20-year-old from Newcastle when we've got our own 20-year-olds here but he gives us something different."
