Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka was pleased with Rudy Gestede's debut at Watford.
The Beninese striker became Boro's first acquisition of the transfer window in the first week of January.
And in Boro's 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road, the Head Coach said he was pleased by the striker's impact.
“I said when we brought him here that he brings us something different," Karanka told Boro's website.
“It was a good debut, he gave us the things we wanted and were expecting. With him on the pitch, we have the kind of striker who you need sometimes to hold the ball, to create an impact on the pitch, score and defend from set pieces."
Having been introduced with half an hour to play on Saturday, Karanka says Gestede will play a big part in Boro's campaign going forward.
“It's a difficult time for him to go to the pitch," Karanka said. “Especially in these moments of the game, you need experience, strong character and strong personalities.
“He played 30 minutes but for sure he will start games in future."
