Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is delighted with the form being shown by defender Chris Riggott.

"It's still a great opportunity for him and I think that's how he's viewing it," said Southgate.

"He missed so much football last year with injury, which was a big frustration for him because he played a big part the year before when we got to the UEFA Cup final.

"Now I think he's just thinking game by game, he's put his international ambition to the side and is just focusing on getting a run in the side and making that shirt his own.

"He's seen what Manny (Pogatetz) did last season and knows he can do the same. And he's the sort of lad you want to see succeed."
