Middlesbrough have moved to secure winger Adam Johnson to a new contract.
The People says England Under-21 winger Johnson currently earns only around £2,500 a week at the Riverside, but has so far refused the club's bid to up that figure to £20,000.
The player believes he can attract a bigger club in the January window, but Boro boss Gordon Strachan is pulling out all the stops to keep him and the club have made a wage offer which is massive by Championship standards.
Chelsea, Fulham, Sunderland and Tottenham are among clubs chasing Johnson.
