Middlesbrough academy continues success

Middlesbrough's academy setup continues to break success records this season.

Far more Academy products have played for Boro this season than any other club, with nine having already appeared for Gareth Southgate's side - namely Stewart Downing, Andrew Taylor, Lee Cattermole, David Wheater, Adam Johnson, Brad Jones, Seb Hines, Graeme Owens, Tom Craddock and Andrew Davies.

Others currently on the club's books to have played first team football for Boro include Brad Jones, Tony McMahon, Ross Turnbull, Matthew Bates, Jason Kennedy and Josh Walker.

Boro have produced more current England internationals at all levels than any other club. With Downing now a fixture in the full squad, Taylor, Wheater and Johnson have been in U21 action recently, while the likes of Hines, Walker, Jason Steele, Jonathan Franks, Nathan Porritt and Bruno Pilatos have appeared for the national side at junior levels.
