Spain U21 international Michel has just won himself a stay of execution at Valencia after a superb tour of England.

The 21 year-old was expected to be offloaded by Valencia this summer, but after impressing against Manchester United and scoring in victory over Arsenal, Michel is now set for a fresh start.

"Since seeing my name on a list of possible departures, I've worked very hard to convince people I should stay," said Michel. "I have shown Unai (Emery) I deserve a chance. No-one has given me anything.

"Last season I started with the juniors, then made the B team, then the seniors and finally the Spain U21s, it's been an amazing year."
