Birmingham City are trying again for Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel.

The Birmingham Mail says Blues are understood to have reopened talks with Sporting Gijon about midfielder Michel.

McLeish's long-time target could well be heading for St Andrew's during the January transfer window.

A deal worth three million euros was struck in August but never came to pass due to haggling over the methods of payment.

Despite comments appearing to the contrary last week, it is believed Michel is keen on a switch.
