Michael Carrick sets return date at Man Utd

Manchester United captain Michael Carrick aims to play again before Christmas.

The Mirror says Carrick is targeting United's final Champions League group game, at home to CSKA Moscow, on December 5 to make his return to action.

Club captain Carrick, 36, has made just one appearance all season, an EFL Cup tie in mid-September.

He has been out two months with a calf injury and reported dizzy spells.

Meanwhile, United legend Andy Cole is convinced Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku can play together.

Cole argued: "I was fortunate to be in that position at United, having other players after your place and that competition brings the best out of you.

"I have no doubts it will bring the best out of Lukaku. He expected Zlatan to get fit at some stage.

"He started the season very well. He has found it difficult in a few games because the team didn't create a lot of chances, and the team didn't played as well as it could have, but I think he will be okay. I definitely think Zlatan will bring the best out of him."
