David Meyler is ready for a first team playing return at Sunderland.
Meyler came through his comeback game two months ahead of schedule last night.
The Irishman, who suffered a double knee ligament injury at the end of last season, played for half an hour, as arranged, against Liverpool at Hetton Le Hole.
Meyler was not expected to return to action until Christmas and even though he is two months ahead of schedule Steve Bruce does not expect to have him ready for first team selection until the new year.
