Officials from Mexico's top flight Liga MX are considering whether or not to include MLS clubs in their cup competition.
The Copa MX, which features clubs from Mexico's top two divisions, could open its doors to clubs from America and Canada's top flight from 2016 onwards according to Liga MX president Decio De Maria.
"What we've started to evaluate is a bi-national [cup] concept with our partners in MLS," De Maria told reporters in a press conference.
"It's a possibility, a good project to develop. It would be for 2016 if it is confirmed."
The biannual cup competition was most recently won by Santos Laguna who defeated Puebla on penalties following a 2-2 draw in early November.
