Mexican police have suspect for murder of Liverpool-born NYRB youth coach Jones

New York Red Bull lost one of their youth coaches in tragic circumstances on October 7 when Mike Jones was murdered near Union Square in Manhattan.

25-year old Jones, a British native from Liverpool, was slashed to death by a man Mexican police believe to be Orlando Orea with the NYPD gaining authority from Interpol to pursue the suspect.

Jones was a part-time coach with the Red Bulls and was believed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when prime suspect Orea attacked him on W. 14th St following an earlier fight in a bar.

Police are investigating that Jones was a case of mistaken identity for Mexican national Orea who fled from New York to Mexico after he became the prime suspect in the murder.
