Giovani dos Santos has ruled out staying at Tottenham after his current deal runs out, much to the annoyance of boss Andre Villas-Boas. The 23-year-old has got just 12 months left on the five-year contract he signed after switching from Barcelona for £4.7m.
"I am not sure what Gio's thought process was, coming out with a statement like that," said the Spurs boss.
"The player is contracted to the club. We respect him and are counting on him to return to club duty.
"Then we will make a decision that is best for the club."
