AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes has made a successful return from injury.
As there are no reserve sides in Serie A, players returning from injury tend to play in the Primavera youth league, so Mexes took part in today's 3-1 defeat to Chievo.
"It was very emotional stepping back on the pitch after five and a half months out," the ex-Roma defender told Milannews.it< /i>.
"My first sensations were positive, though the most important thing for me was to start playing with a team again.
"As for recovery time, I am ahead of schedule and have been progressing well during the rehabilitation programme.
"Knee surgery is always delicate and requires a lot of time and willpower to come back from. I played 45 minutes today because that was what my body was capable of.
"Now I need more time to get the movements right on the field, but I'm confident I made a big step towards being available. After the break for international duty I should be 90 per cent ready."
