Mexes feels he's been made Roma scapegoat

Philippe Mexes feels he's being made a scapegoat for Roma's problems at the start of the season.

The French defender has been benched by new coach Claudio Ranieri and said: "I have paid the price for it and am still paying. But I don't feel like I am the only one responsible.

"I might be the worst, but it can't all be my fault if we concede goals.

"I made mistakes in a team where everyone wasn't playing well. However, I'm calm and going down my own path."

Mexes admits he is missing former boss Luciano Spalletti.

"I miss everything about him," he noted. "After so many years together we had a good relationship."
