Christoph Metzelder admits Real Madrid's defending wasn't good enough for last night's thrilling 4-3 victory over Numancia.

The Germany international said: "Three goals conceded at home is too much, but in the end we are worth the three points, the first in the league for us.

"I think we made life for ourselves too difficult in the second half, we stopped playing as a team and that has changed the game. We did fight hard to win the three points."
