Barcelona star Lionel Messi doesn't want management to pursue a deal for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.
While rating the Frenchman highly, Messi feels a move for Griezmann would be overkill with other positions in the team needing reinforcement.
Diario Gol says Messi's big concern is cover for captain Andres Iniesta, which is why he has come around to Barca signing Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
Several of Messi's senior colleagues are in agreement, believing a midfielder, rather than an attacker in Griezmann's style, should be their January priority.
A locker room source stated: "If Liverpool does not allow Coutinho to leave, we have to look for someone of his profile."
With Ousmane Dembele set for a playing return in December, Messi is convinced their attacking options are well covered.
