Lionel Messi rescued a point for Barcelona against Villarreal on Sunday.
Messi earned Barcelona a point with a spectacular free-kick in the 90th minute against a valiant Villarreal.
It was a brilliant strike which was unbefitting of the team's performance, with the Argentine saving his side from defeat with his second free-kick strike in two games, after he netted against Athletic Bilbao in the week the same way.
Villarreal had gone ahead after Lucas Digne gave the ball away going forward, causing a counter-attack that led to Pato threading in Nicola Sansone, who finished with aplomb.
The result leaves Barcelona five points behind leaders Real Madrid, who have played a game less. A bad result, but Messi's intervention may yet prove crucial.
