Lionel Messi would love to see Barcelona sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. The former Everton youngster is worth a world-record £84million.
Rooney can inspire England to a World Cup Final showdown with Argentina on Sunday, July 11.
Messi told the Daily Star Sunday: "It would be a dream to play with Rooney if Manchester United ever came to the point where they needed to sell him.
"I would personally go to the Barcelona president and ask that he be signed myself.
Messi admits he doesn't know if it will ever happen - but says he really wants to line up alongside Rooney one day.
He said: "I don't know if I will ever play with him but, if he ever wants to leave, he is one of the few talents that can improve this Barcelona team."
