Barcelona's four-goal hero Lionel Messi is urging Pep Guardiola to sign a new deal.

Messi was speaking after their rout of Valencia.

"He knows what we think and will make the decision when he sees fit, we want him to continue, he means a lot to us and to this club," said Messi.

Of criticism of his own form, Messi shrugged: "This always happens at certain times in the season. I don't care, I know I have the confidence of the coach, my teammates and the people of Barcelona."
