Messi ditches Barcelona revenge talk for Getafe

Messi insists last season's embarrassing Copa del Rey semi-final defeat to Getafe is all-but forgotten as they prepare to return to the Coliseum in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Barca earned a 5-2 lead in the first leg at the Nou Camp, with Messi scoring a goal reminiscent of Diego Maradona's famous second strike for Argentina against England in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final.

But complacency got the better of them in the return leg, and a spirited Getafe humiliated Barca by coming back to win the second leg 4-0 to secure their first ever final appearance.

"It's a very important game and we don't need to think about the past," said the Argentina international.

"What happened happened and we are only focused on the future. Revenge doesn't come into it at all."
