Lionel Messi was the difference as Barcelona did enough to win at Valencia last night.
Messi scored the only goal as Primera Division leaders Barcelona scraped a 1-0 win at Valencia.
After Valencia's Jordi Alba had a first-half effort ruled for offside the match appeared to be heading for stalemate until Messi scored with a low strike which Vicente Guaita got a hand to but could not keep out.
The result puts Barca 10 points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who entertain Malaga tonight.
