Lionel Messi has jumped to the defence of underfire Barcelona teammate Ronaldinho.

"What cannot be in dispute is that he remains the best player in the world. He has given much to Barcelona and it is a lack of respect to be so critical," said Messi.

The Argentina international added: "I am feeling good about my fitness. I hope to be available for the Champions League semifinals and to meet a team as strong as Manchester United."
