Mertsacker hails Arsenal ace Ozil's return to form and fitness

Per Mertesacker has welcomed Mesut Ozil's return to fitness and form at Arsenal.

But the defender is urging his countryman to show the ruthless side to his game.

"We played together before at Werder Bremen as well as in the national team and he was always that promising talent, and now he is showing a lot more," he said.

"He has had so much experience in his young career, but sometimes I wish he was more selfish in front of the goal. You can see when he breaks through the lines, he can score instead of looking for another player.

"You can see he is dangerous and has pace when he really wants. He is so quick, and he causes a lot of trouble, and is always a threat.

"He played on the left against Villa and that is not his best position in my opinion, but he can play anywhere up front.

"It is good for him to get back his fitness maybe on the wing and he is doing a bit more defensive work.

"He suffered a bit at the end of the Villa game, but he always looked dangerous, and was always available, wanted the ball and wanted to create something."
