Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has hailed the leadership of Per Mertesacker.

Arteta was asked about the German in a wide-ranging interview with RWD Football.

He said: "Per is a very straightforward person and a great influence for the other lads.

"He's very German in his timing skills and organisation abilities. He's good for the young players so to have a player like this who gives you the right advice is important"
