Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes that midfielder Paul Pogba won't start for Manchester United in the Friday night clash with Southampton at Old Trafford.

The Sky Sports pundit is backing United manager Jose Mourinho to keep the faith in the same eleven players that started in the last weekend's season opening win over Bournemouth.

"Southampton started poorly against Watford, who were well on top in the first half," Merson told Sky Sports.

"They clawed their way back to get a draw, but they'll need to be much better against United.

"I'm not sure if Paul Pogba will play to be honest because I'd be surprised if Mourinho changed his team.

"It's his first home game and while they didn't play great at Bournemouth on Sunday, they still got a good result, and I think it will be fairly comfortable on Friday."
