Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick is keen to keep a similar squad going into the Asian Champions League to the one that triumphed in the A-League this season.
The Victory will be a part of the lucrative Asian competition next season after their successful 2008/09 domestic season and are currently still celebrating their A-League premiership.
Victory players and officials attended a presentation in Melbourne's Federation Square where they were saluted by the Victorian Government and City of Melbourne along with family, friends and supporters.
Merrick said they hadn't thought too much about the Champions League but admitted he was keen to secure some big names in the current squad.
"We haven't thought about it (ACL) at all because we were focused on winning the championship but we will sit down and look at it soon," Merrick said on stage at the presentation.
"Geoff (Miles, CEO) has done a great job in re-signing most of the list, now all we need to do is secure some big names; Muscat, Hernandez, Ward.
"But for now we will celebrate the win and then look forward to the other competition soon."
