Unsettled midfielder Jeremy Menez grabbed Roma's winner in their 1-0 victory at Chievo Verona yesterday.

"He scored a splendid goal, ran into space and did some marvellous things," smiled coach Luciano Spalletti afterwards.

"He was decisive. I am not at all surprised, because I know he has exceptional skills and is a real talent. He just needs to be a bit more useful to the squad, but he is improving and will continue to grow."

Spalletti added: "I am just happy to see my players are in good psychological and physical shape. There was the risk they would lose faith in themselves, but they reacted and now we can even afford to do without some injured figures."
