Manchester City's new-signing Benjamin Mendy has revealed that he wanted to join City as soon as he finished the league-winning season at Monaco.
The 23-year-old left-back became the world's most-expensive defender when he joined City in a £52m deal on Monday.
"This is what I wanted from the very beginning," he said upon completing his move.
"As soon as the championship was over, I talked to my family and it was all clear in my head — I wanted to join Manchester City. I'm really happy about it.
"I'm a leader, someone who always has a smile on his face and I like to share my happiness with my team-mates.
"I think I'm the right person for the group. I'm easily adaptable. There are some players with whom I exchanged a few emails, I knew them from some years ago."
