Mendy provides Man City boost as recovery reaches next stage

Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola have received a boost after the news that left back Benjamin Mendy is progressing in his recovery from a knee injury.

Mendy injured his cruciate ligament in September, and it is unlikely he will play for the rest of the season.

The player has already begun ball work, and he was very optimistic about his chances of returning to the first team in the near future.

Mendy said: "It's a lot better. I worked so hard and now I run, touch the ball, so I just need to keep going and maybe soon I'll be on the pitch.

"The team is so good now, we have two players in my place and every day I speak with them. We are a good group and we need to keep going to take a lot of cups."
