Real Valladolid coach Jose Luis Mendilibar wants to carry on spending as he prepares for their return to the Primera Liga this season.

Mendilibar singled out close-season signings Ludovic Butelle and Angel Vivar Dorado for praise.

"What makes this team so good is their unity," Mendilibar told club website "Butelle and Vivar Dorado are training in the same rhythm as the rest of the team."

Mendilibar could yet recruit more to the cause before their season-opening trip to Barcelona to play Espanyol.

"I would like to leave my options open to sign someone in the last week because you don't know where the gap will appear," he said.

"The truth is we need more players, one up front and one in defence. The key is who can make this squad stronger?"
