Mendes refutes talk of wanting out of Rangers

Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes has denied reports claiming he wants to move away from Ibrox. Mendes has only played four times in the Scottish Premier League this season and the 30-year-old has been linked with a return to his native Portugal with Sporting Lisbon, although he has dismissed these claims and says he is happy in Glasgow.

"I've been reading some incredible stories," he said.

"The only thing I know is that Martin Bain (Ibrox chief executive) had a call from the Sporting director of football a few weeks ago.

"I love Glasgow, the family loves Glasgow and Rangers is a great club.

"I think journalists should think before they start writing.

"I got back into the Portugal squad playing for Rangers, so I don't need to go back to Portugal."
