Fiorentina's Brazil midfielder Felipe Melo has snapped back at Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon over claims Italy will beat them in the Confederations Cup.

"Buffon speaks too much, but tomorrow he risks being shut up. It seems to me he is exaggerating how confident he is," Melo told TV Globo.

"Anyway Buffon has a right to say his peace what with Italy being world champions. He and all of Italy are expert people and so we know tomorrow will be a difficult game.

"However, we want to win and conquer first place in the group," Melo concluded.
