England U17 midfielder Jacob Mellis hopes an FA Youth Cup final victory over Aston Villa will inspire his senior Chelsea teammates to Premiership success.

Chelsea reached the final after last night's 3-2 semifinal victory at Aston Villa and Mellis said: "If we can win the trophy, it will give the club a boost. Hopefully, it will help the senior boys and they will follow on and win a trophy too.

"John Terry and Ashley Cole had a screen set up to watch the first leg of our tie in their hotel before the Barnsley game and it drove us on to do better."
